Since I was a child, I always knew that I wanted to somehow be involved in the medical/healthcare industry. After graduating from nursing school and practicing at a local hospital for a while, I realized that active clinical practice was not the right avenue for me.
A colleague introduced me to the world of reproductive endocrinology (infertility) and I have worked in this field for many years. I started with the basics of general reproductive health before moving on to the complexities of in vitro fertilization, or IVF. Currently, I manage the Egg Donation and Coordination Department at a prominent New York City fertility clinic.
In 2007, I began to write for the New York Times company, About.com, as their expert guide to PCOS and rediscovered my lost love for writing. My first book, The Everything Guide to Fertility, is due out in January 2011, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Making sense of the technical jargon and complicated health information can be a challenge. My goal is to make the complex more easily understood and accessible to the average reader. That’s what is so great about consumer health education; the ability to truly make a difference in somebody’s life. That’s where my true passion lies and I hope to be able to share that with you!
